My father had worked doing intensive manual labour for over 40 years, eventually Stephen was forced to retire due to his physical health. There was suddenly no reason for him to wake up in the morning and my father slipped into a deep depression, isolating himself from his family and the rest of the world. So painful was his depression for us all to see I began documenting my fathers everyday life, not with an aim to shock but with love and compassion so I may attempt to spark something within my father to start living again.
I continue to photograph my father to this day.
